Properties across the UK can be affected by wet and dry rot

Commercial properties new and old, retail buildings and private homes across the UK are all susceptible to the dangers of wet and dry rot. Brought about by damp environments and insufficient ventilation systems, rot is a major cause of timber decay.

Dry Rot is a type of rot that eats away at the timbers, spreads very fast and must be fully eliminated to ensure it does not return. This will involve a similar process to the damp proofing but will also involve the application of a biocide chemical.

Wet rots are normally associated with rising or penetrating damp and can normally be eradicated by removing the source of the moisture.

Prevent rot from affecting your property with our solutions

Despite the name, dry rot is a virulent fungal growth directly caused by leaving damp areas in your home or business premises untreated. In severe cases, the infection can spread throughout the walls and behind the plaster of an entire building.

On the other hand, wet rot is commonly found in basements, roofs, skirting boards and under floors. Timber that has been subjected to a prolonged leak or other sources of recurring moisture will eventually develop wet rot. Unlike dry rot, wet rot will not spread and can be contained. Our experts are experienced and trained to offer efficient treatments to ensure you have a fungal-free property.
